-
You must have a provisional driving licence to book the theory test
-
The test is in two parts:
part 1 – a multiple choice test of 50 questions (pass mark 43/50)
part 2 – a hazard perception test consisting of 14 video clips (pass mark 44/75)
-
I recommend reading the following books in preparation for part 1 multiple choice; the Highway Code, Know Your Traffic Signs, (DSA) Driving The Essential Skills, (DSA) The Official Driving Test
There are various PC CD-ROMs available which contain both the entire DSA Theory Test Question Bank and Hazard Perception practice. These are an essential aid to success in this test
-
A mock test is available on the DSA website
-
You must take both parts (card & paper) of your provisional driving licence with you, along with your appointment letter, when attending the test
-
If pupils ever need help or clarification when studying for the theory test, however silly the question may seem to be, please contact me – correct understanding is fundamental for proper learning

Intensive Courses
-
I offer Intensive Courses for people with at least 15 hours recent driving experience.
-
I do not offer these courses to novice drivers, as I feel appropriate learning cannot take place all in one go. Your brain needs time to ‘digest’ what you have learnt, especially in the early stages of learning to drive.
-
First of all, you will need a pre-tuition assessment, this will last for 1½ hours and costs £28.00.
-
Following this assessment, I will be able to provide a quotation for the number of hours required to prepare you for the test.
-
An Intensive Course will not help you to gain a full driving licence any quicker or easier than regular driving lessons might.
-
It is also impossible to guarantee that you will pass a driving test; regardless of how well you drive during the test, there may be another road user who does something to affect your test result.
-
There is also no such thing as a perfect driver, we are all human and can make mistakes that are out of character.
-
Please contact me should you require further information about intensive courses.

- Reduce your risk of being in a road crash
the course will help boost your awareness of all kinds of hazards and help you learn how to anticipate, plan for and deal with them safely
- Save money on car insurance premiums
naturally, you will have to pay for the course. Fees for the PASS PLUS course will vary depending on where you live and the instructor or driving school you choose. Bear in mind too that it will take a minimum of six hours, all of which need to be taken after passing your test. If more sessions are needed for you to successfully complete the course, this may add to the cost. When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course.
- Boost your confidence
if you feel nervous driving on your own, the PASS PLUS training can help you become more confident on the roads
- Give peace of mind to your loved ones
- PASS PLUS consists of six practical modules
These cover driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways. You can take it at any time within the first 12 month of passing your test.
- There is no test at the end of it
Your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard:
- Achieved – successfully reached the standard required for each of the competencies
- Exceeded – exceeded the required standard for each of the competencies
- In exceptional circumstances
i
f a module can't be done on the road it will be covered in a theory session. The highest level you can reach is 'achieved' as you've not been able to demonstrate the relevant practical skills.
- Don’t worry if you haven’t got a car at the moment
Y
ou may be able to defer the discount for up to two years. Again, check with your insurance company.
- If you passed your test more than a year ago
you should check that you’ll be eligible for the discounts on offer from your insurance company before you take the course.
